Which tweets got Gina Carano fired from The Mandalorian? Here’s how the Disney+ show is explaining her absence in season 3

Former MMA fighter Gina Carano is not a part of The Mandalorian season 3.

Carano was fired from the Disney show over controversial tweets back in February 2021. As the show airs its third season, let’s dig deeper into the tweets that got Carano fired from the company two years ago.

Carano, a former Strikeforce title contender, has always shared her controversial takes on social media. Along with anti-mask conspiracy theories, ‘Conviction’ also put up a controversial status that drew the ire of the trans community.

@JoeTalkShow They’re mad cuz I won’t put pronouns in my bio to show my support for trans lives. After months of harassing me in every way. I decided to put 3 VERY controversial words in my bio.. beep/bop/boop I’m not against trans lives at all. They need to find less abusive representation.

While Gina Carano was widely slammed for the aforementioned tweets, they did not end her Disney career. ‘Conviction’ finally took it too far by comparing America’s recent political scenario to Nazi Germany, thereby undermining the holocaust. The former fighter wrote in a since-deleted tweet:

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

#FireGinaCarano is trending on Twitter after Gina Carano shared an IG story that compared being a Republican to being a Jew during the Holocaust https://t.co/ji49k4sPWq

Carano’s tweet was deemed anti-Semitic, causing #FireGinaCarano to trend on Twitter, ultimately leading to her release from the Star Wars project. Explaining Carano’s firing, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that she didn’t align with comany values.

How The Mandalorian season 3 explain Gina Carano’s absence?

In the first season of The Mandalorian, Gina Carano played Cara Dune, a strong ally to protagonist Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin. The show did not spend much time explaining Carano’s absence from season 3.

In the first episode, we see Din Djarin return to Nevarro in the hopes of reviving foe-turned-friend assassin droid IG-11 and using him to explore the ruins of his home planet Mandalore.

His old ally Greef Karga, who is now the High Magistrate of Nevarro, offers Din Djarin the rank of a Marshall on the planet to help keep the peace. He turns it down and suggests Karga should go for Cara Dune instead, who is an equally well-trained and seasoned warrior as we’ve seen in previous seasons. However, Karga explains that would not be possible, as she was now employed by the New Republic’s Special Forces after bringing in Moff Gideon. It is a fitting farewell to the character given that the fans are not likely to ever see her again on screen.

I miss you @ginacarano. The Mandalorian is great, but I still miss seeing you kick ass. I don’t think its fair that you should get fired because you got bullied and stood up for yourself.

@Odyne_LaFee I wouldn’t know. I dropped Disney+ like a bad habit after they went woke and fired Gina Carano.
