Rodtang Jitmuangnon explains why he’s better than Superlek Kiatmoo9

There can be no doubt that ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon has already accomplished greatness inside the circle.

His dominant run as the champion has turned him into the biggest name in the sport. But at ONE Fight Night 8, he’s putting on a different set of gloves.

On March 24, he will try to become a two-sport world champion and write his name into a very exclusive history book. Challenging ONE’s flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main event live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the fans are in for a real superfight.

Whilst kickboxing may not be the ruleset where he feels most at home, ‘The Iron Man’ still believes that he has the skills and weapons to really threaten the defending champion.

In an interview with ONE Championship, the challenger spoke about the advantages that he brings to the table:

“In comparison, I believe I’m more versatile. I am armed with fists, feet, knees, elbows. My advantage is a variety of punches and quick steps, in and out. I might be a bit faster than him. But Superlek’s right shin is superior to mine and he has more experience. It depends on who makes the first mistake in the circle.”

Rodtang Jitmuangnon says fight with Superlek has been years in the making

In his mind and in the eyes of the fans, Rodtang Jitmuangnon believed that he would inevitably face-off with Superlek Kiatmoo9 somewhere down the line.

At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, the two Thai stars will finally clash as ‘The Iron Man’ looks to become a two-sport world champion by dethroning the flyweight kickboxing titleholder.

Their superfight will serve as the main event of the event, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The entire event will also air live and for free via Prime Video for North American viewers.

Fans were hopeful that they would see them face-off in last year’s ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix after being drawn on opposite sides of the bracket.

Unfortunately, Rodtang was forced to pull out of the tournament, keeping fans waiting for their eventual showdown. In an interview with ONE Championship, the flyweight Muay Thai king spoke about his history with Superlek:

“There has always been a lot of hype about our matchup for a long time. The fans were hyped when I first joined ONE Championship or even before I fought in Thailand at Rajadamnern or Lumpinee Stadium.”

Rodtang added:

“Everyone wanted to watch me lock horns with Superlek. But don’t get me wrong. Running away from him is the last thing on my mind. When both of us were competing in Thailand, we had no chance to face each other because we fought in different divisions. And, in my division alone, I had many opponents to fight with — for example, Seksan, Yodlekpetch, among many others. So, our paths were never aligned until now.”
