“Now Burrow can wear 0 to show the amount of rings he’ll win” – NFL fans chime in with hot takes as team owners approve jersey Number Zero proposal

The NFL announced a change on Tuesday that, while it’s not exactly important to the game, it was a pleasant welcome for all fans who care about the aesthetics of the game. The league will allow players to wear the No. 0 on their jerseys starting in September.

The proposal has long been a wish for fans and players ever since the league allowed single-digit jerseys last season. The flexible rules allowed many players to return to their college numbers and show some extra swag in the league.

With the No. 0 announcement, many fans were excited about the possibility of seeing their favorite players with a No. 0 on their backs. However, as internet trolls are not allowed to sleep, the hot takes came flying at the same time.

NFL owners just approved the proposal to allow players to wear Number Zero, I’m told.

@TomPelissero Now Burrow can wear 0 to show the amount of rings he’ll win

@TomPelissero I wouldn’t want to be zero ????. If anything it should for all kickers or punters

@TomPelissero Roughing the passer nah its fine how it is, but wearing the number zero that’s what we really should focus on ????

Which NFL players are up to using the No. 0 jersey?

The proposal made by the Philadelphia Eagles was accepted by the owners on Tuesday, and players will be allowed to wear No. 0 as soon as 2023.

Calvin Ridley from the Jacksonville Jaguars has already announced that he’s going to wear the No. 0. He was traded to the team and subsequently allowed by the NFL to return to the field following his involvement in a betting scandal in the 2021 season when he was a player of the Atlanta Falcons.

Although Ridley is the only one who has confirmed his jersey number to be #0, there have been other names who seem interested in changing.

Micah Parsons said on his Twitter account that he’s interested. He was one of the players to change his jersey number in 2022 when the league first flexed the rules.

Additional single-digit jerseys are available for punters and kickers. Here are the new rules approved by the NFL owners:

  • Quarterbacks: 0-19
  • Kickers and punters: 0-49 and 90-99
  • Defensive backs: 0-49
  • Running backs, fullbacks, tight ends and wide receivers: 0-49 and 80-89
  • Offensive linemen: 50-79
  • Defensive linemen: 50-79 and 90-99
  • Linebackers: 0-59 and 90-99

Wearing the No. 0 can show the greatest amount of swag on the field, but if you’re in a bad game, opponents will pick up on your number without a doubt.
