The New Orleans Pelicans have been among the hottest teams of late, thanks to Brandon Ingram. The former All-Star forward has guided them to six wins in their past seven games. Ingram tallied a 31-point triple-double in the Pelicans’ dominant 107-88 win over Western Conference leaders, the Denver Nuggets.

Over his past eight games, Ingram has averaged 28.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 7.8 apg, shooting on 51/45/93 splits. The Pelicans went from 33-37 to 39-38 behind Ingram’s stellar form. New Orleans is now seventh in the West, a game behind the sixth-placed Golden State Warriors.

It’s been an impressive run, especially because Zion Williamson has been on the sidelines. The Pelicans struggled to secure results in his absence, but Ingram ensured they stayed afloat.

Pelicans fans online went into a frenzy over Brandon Ingram’s efforts in the team’s win over the Nuggets. One of them raved about the Pelicans’ strength, insinuating that other teams wouldn’t stand a chance against them when Zion returns Here’s what the fan tweeted:

“Lucky Zion isn’t healthy… when he is it’s over”

More reactions followed:

@TheHoopCentral Lakers not making the play in just saw the script ????????????

@TheHoopCentral Bro I pray that they stay in the playin and Zion can comeback. I feel like they can really upset the nuggets or grizzlies

@TheHoopCentral Wondering if it’s too late for BI to have a shot at maybe an All Nba third team if he keeps it up til the season ends. The dude is playing amazing basketball right now.

Brandon Ingram and New Orleans Pelicans cannot be counted out

The New Orleans Pelicans dropped out of the play-in tournament bracket a couple of weeks ago but have made an inspiring comeback. They are a game clear of the .500 mark and into seventh, eyeing the sixth seed in the standings.

New Orleans also made a surge last year. They started the season 1-11 but made the play-in tournament with the ninth-best record, winning two knockout games and entering the playoffs. They gave the Phoenix Suns a run for their money in the first round, stretching the series to six games.

The Pelicans did this in Zion Williamson’s absence. They are in a similar spot this season. New Orleans is coming up clutch at the right time as the Western Conference entered the playoff mode early.

All wins and losses for teams placed between sixth and 11th matter. Four teams have a .500 record or better and are in contention to finish as the sixth seed. Meanwhile, the play-in seedings also matter as the seventh- and eighth-placed teams get two opportunities to make the playoffs, while teams placed ninth and 10th will have to win two consecutive knockout games to make the playoffs.

Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans are trending in the right direction. Based on their current form, they are likely to end up as the sixth, seventh or eighth seed in the West.
