LeBron James’ first No. 6 Lakers jersey goes to auction

A special LeBron James game-worn jersey is on the auction block and is expected to bring in a huge price over the next couple of days.

The jersey was James’ first No. 6 jersey with the Los Angeles Lakers, which he wore during the October 19, 2021 game against the Golden State Warriors.

The jersey is up for auction at SCP Auctions and will close on Saturday.

As of Thursday afternoon there are already a handful of bids on the jersey, with the highest bid already coming in at $77,951.

James switched from No. 23 to No. 6 at the start of the 2021-22 season after previously wearing No. 23 with the Cleveland Cavaliers and in his first few seasons as a member of the Lakers.

He also previously wore No. 6 during his time with the Miami Heat.

The jersey has gone through several layers of authentication according to TMZ Sports.

This is the second prominent James jersey to be up for auction in recent weeks. In late January a James championship jersey from his time in Miami sold for millions and became the highest priced James jersey ever sold.

There was also a 2020 All-Star jersey that sold for over $660,000 and was the previous high mark before the championship jersey.

Given that the bidding for the Lakers jersey is already up over $77,000 and there are still two days to go in the bidding it seems possible that this one could also go for well over six figures when it finally sells.
