Brooklyn Nets Trade Rumors: Naz Reid interesting Eastern Conference contenders

[ad_1]

According to reports, the Brooklyn Nets are the latest of a number of teams that have expressed interest in Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid.

Still only 23, Naz Reid has enjoyed a steady development at the Timberwolves, though he hasn’t been able to break into the starting lineup with them. He has had Rudy Gobert to compete with, despite the lengthy absence of Karl Anthony Towns this season.

Naz Reid is averaging 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in an average of 17.9 minutes per game and could be a decent addition for contenders looking to add depth. The Nets are one such team and are one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA this season.

Naz Reid joined the Timberwolves on a four-year contract and the team is at risk of losing him for nothing in the summer. This is what has led to uncertainty regarding his future, and Brooklyn are only one of the many teams who have expressed interest thus far.

The Brooklyn Nets look to continue resurgent run

Since the sacking of Steve Nash, Brooklyn have gone 27-12 under Jacques Vaughn. Kevin Durant is currently unavailable and the team has responded with two straight wins after a run of four losses without their star man. Kyrie Irving is in commanding form and has produced arguably the best two performances of his season thus far in those victories.

Adding another talented center who can defend and is a commanding presence on the perimeter will give them further impetus. While Durant’s injury is not a positive, it has allowed other players to gain form. Nicolas Claxton has also produced three straight 20+ point games and the Nets are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference.

Naz Reid looks to be the ideal player who can help the Nets. The 23-year old has matured since last season and looks ready to be a starting center for a playoff contender. He seems to be a good fit for Brooklyn but will have to make do with less playing time. This might be a fair exchange for competing for the NBA title and we will see if it becomes a reality in the near future.
